DVD COVER FINAL version for real now.png

Evaluation of DVD Cover

The design of this DVD Cover makes it clear that it is a DVD Cover. Some of the main features which show this are on the spine, such as barcode, age certificate, title and studio. The back also has this information, including the technical spec of the DVD and the DVD logo at the bottom.

I don't feel as if this colour is regular for a zombie film DVD Cover, as the vast majority of zombie films have a red colour scheme, whereas mine is green and black. At a first glance, it looks more like a sci-fi film than a zombie film. This is something I would like to improve and change if I were to remake the cover.

I included all of the relevant information apart from a tagline. I feel as if the simplicity of the front of the cover is what makes it stand out, so filling it up too much would take away from the design.

I have added reviews, which would make people believe that many people believe the film is great and they should watch it so that they don't miss out.

I also added a billing block and a tech spec to the back of the cover. The billing block shows information such as filming location, director, designer, cinematographer and casting director. The tech spec shows information such as aspect ratio, sound technology, languages and runtime.

The positioning of these features is great and I feel that I did a good job. Nothing is too small that you can't read it, but nothing is big enough that it takes up too much space and looks out of place.

What I found most difficult about the process was making sure that all of the images I used looked like they were from the same place. To do this I had to colour them all a similar colour, this added continuity to the DVD Cover, even though the images were not originally from the same place.  In the future, I would redesign it and make it look more similar to a traditional zombie DVD Cover, as I don't feel that this cover looks like a zombie genre DVD cover.

What I enjoyed most about the project was coming up with an idea for a new film and then creating an interesting DVD cover.
