September
Genres
In September, I learnt about different types of genres, and how to identify what genre a film/show is. I learnt the six key characteristics of genre which include typical situations, typical settings and stock characters.
Technical Codes
In September, I learnt a lot about technical codes. Technical codes include things such as shot types, shot angles, lighting and mis-en-scene. Learning these has been very important in understanding why filmmakers decide to do what they do, and gives a reason behind various shot types.

Mystery Guest Reveal
In September, I also filmed and edited a thirty-second mystery guest reveal using different techniques. I used editing techniques such as freeze frames and text. To plan my mystery guest, I created a storyboard.
Sound
In September, I learnt about the different types of sound such as diegetic sound (within the film world) and non diegetic sound (added in post production, not in the film world.)
Editing Techniques
In September, I learnt about the different editing techniques used in film and media. Learning about these gave me the skills to greatly expand what I am able to do in editing software and expand my creativity as I now know some of the things I am able to do in an edit.
